Rad has worked in business development and corporate relations for twelve years. As UW Director of Industry Relations, he is responsible for starting and growing corporate partnerships of strategic importance to the University of Washington, with particular emphasis on research-based partnerships with Health Sciences companies. Previously, he served as Industrial Liaison Officer at the Center for Sensorimotor Neural Engineering, a multi-institutional Engineering Research Center funded by the National Science Foundation. In that role, he was responsible for building and running an industry affiliate program. Before that, he was Business Development Director for the Advanced Materials for Energy Institute where he was responsible for leading corporate engagement efforts and selected strategic projects. Rad also does industry relations contract consulting for the National Science Foundation. He earned a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Biology from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a member of NACRO, UIDP, BIO, Sigma Xi, and Keiretsu and is active in local and national climbing access conservation organizations.
