University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
As I began my first position in Corporate Relations at Purdue in 2012, I was immediately within the first few weeks told to register for the NACRO Conference in August at Northwestern University. That conference was a real eye-opener to me to the fact that there was a whole organization out there dedicated to helping new folks like me have help outside of my institution to become successful. Within that first year, I became a member of the Marketing committee, then within another year became a part of the Social Media sub-committee, and then in early 2016 became the Editor-in-Chief for the monthly NACRO newsletter. During this first year of being heavily involved with the newsletter is when I really became vested in the organization and felt that I had become more than a participant and was now a contributor.
