Brad Fravel, Director of Business Development, Virginia Tech
On December 18, Dr. Brad Fravel joined Link - The Center for Advancing Industry Partnerships at Virginia Tech as Director of Business Development. Virginia Tech appreciates the importance of industry partnerships to support a wide-range of mutually beneficial goals. Link was founded in Summer 2017 as a university priority to offer a holistic, streamlined approach that starts with industry needs and stays through the continuum from Discovery to Market. Brad is responsible for identifying and creating strategic, long-term collaborations with the private sector to advance innovation, improve communities, and strengthen tomorrow’s workforce.
Brad comes to Virginia Tech from Indiana University where he was IU’s first Executive Director, Corporate Relations. In his five years in this role, he worked with university leadership, faculty, and external partners to maximize corporate engagement and support for the university across ten IU campuses. Prior to this, Brad was Business Development Manager and Faculty-Corporate Liaison at Indiana University’s Research & Technology Corporation, where he managed intellectual property, assisted faculty entrepreneurs, and accelerated the commercialization of IU discoveries. Previously, Brad held positions as an industry scientist, an international consultant, and an academic professor. He earned a Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry from Indiana University. He also holds a Bachelor of Science from Southern Methodist University and a Masters of Business Administration from Butler University.
Brad is currently in his second year of service to the NACRO Board as co-Chair of NACRO’s Membership and Alliances Committee. He has also volunteered in past years on the Benchmarking, Finance, Marketing, and Site Selection Committees.
